I have to start buy saying I'm pretty much in love this series. The town, the family love them all. And this new comer Javier..... LOVE him! He is complicated but loving. Ms Heidi is a spit fire and he has his work cut out for him. This story was kind of quick and dirty and I loved it. 4 Stars

Heidi is a caretaker in just about every aspect of her life. She’s a veterinarian, lives with and cares for her fathers and the brothers left at home. Heidi is a very rare female shifter and as such her mother prepared her for a life without children. Her brothers are the only male shifters she’s ever heard about and she can only have babies with a male shifter. So to say Heidi is shocked to discover the jaguar, whose bullet wound she’s treating, is really a shifter would be an understatement. Suddenly she has a chance at a future without loneliness. That is until the cat finally talks to her and makes it clear he will be leaving as soon as he heals.

Javier has spent the last 2 years with one thing on his mind, killing the man that murdered his brother and mate. He hasn’t stopped chasing him once since that day; until he gets mistaken for a different animal, and gets shot. Lucky for him he’s in Heidi’s hometown and she’s the call to come save him. He’s confused by his attraction to Heidi. It’s the first time in two years he has been remotely interested in a woman. Javier can’t reconcile his feelings and thinks he doesn’t want another mate. As he fights Heidi’s pull, he has conversation with her fathers about the loss of their mate.

It was difficult to watch Heidi struggle with her growing feeling for Javier knowing he was going to leave, leave her without a future, was very emotional. I truly felt for her. It wasn’t much easier to witness Javier’s inner struggle to reconcile his past, present, and possible future. The future he would like to have with Heidi, but doesn’t think he can. The sex between them was hot and explosive. The scenes were written so well I could fell the emotions coming from both of them.

I recommend this to anyone who likes strong heroines, hot alpha males, romance and action. This is the third in a series but can be read as a stand-alone.
