Andrew's interest in putting on plays leads to him joining drama club, but that leads to more activities: debate club, chess club, ballet, karate, tennis, even the school newspaper! Andrew barely has time to play with his friend Ellie, and he's so tired that he sleeps through the play - the thing he most wanted to do in the first place! Andrew makes the sensible decision to cut back on his activities, just keeping a couple and having more time to play with his friends.

There might be a mismatch between the subject (overscheduling) and the format (picture book), but maybe it's more for parents than kids, or it's a picture book that grade school kids can enjoy. ( )

This book is very timely. Many families and children find themselves over-scheduled and busy with not enough time for what is really important (family, friends, relaxation etc.).

Andrew loves to act so he joins the drama club at school. He then starts joining other clubs to help with his acting skills. Other people start asking him to do things and he can not say no. Andrew finds himself so busy that he can not keep things straight or stay awake.

This message of being able to say no as well as to pick one or two things you really enjoy is very important in this day and age. Children will learn that they can not do everything and need to make choices about how to spend their time. I love the illustrations. They were simple yet conveyed the messages clearly with great facial expressions.

I recommend this book be in all school, classroom, public and family libraries. A simple story with a great message.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Appealing illustrations and a timely message. One of those books where the message will probably resonate more for adults than kids. Still, it works at multiple levels to be an enjoyable read for adults and kids alike. ( )

Fun story of a boy who does too much and realizes that he's stretched too thin, which is an important concept not often addressed in children's literature. The illustrations are a delight. ( )
