Dark Journey is the disturbing, fast-paced story of a young Turkish woman's descent towards moral annihilation - one part The Thousand and One Nights, two parts Maupassant. Thirty years after Irfan Orga, author of the cult memoir Portrait of a Turkish Family, died, his son opened an old attache case and found a coffee-stained typescript tied up with string. This is Dark Journey, a suffocating, Oedipal drama set against the backdrop of the nascent Turkish Republic. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

This was a compelling read, set in the Turkey of yesteryear. I couldn't put it down. ( )
