He is scared and doesn't want to go as he holds on to his mother and won't let go because he is scared. She tells him that being scared is part of being brave. He meets his new teacher and he smiles at the boy and he starts to feel a little better. When he meets the other students and they smile he starts to feel better, then a boy at recess introduces himself and he feels even better. This book was abut having the courage to face his fears. I really liked this short book that tells about going to a new school because going to a new school where you do not know anyone is very scary. Anyone would be scared on their first day at a new school. I would extend this book by having the person who introduced himself come over and play after school and show his mom that he met someone and made new friends. I would also extend this book by having the boy at the new school join some programs at school that might help him make new friends even though that would be scary too. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
