"Olivia Helps the Tooth Fairy" adapted by Cordelia Evans is an adorable story about sibling love and the Tooth Fairy tradition. Olivia's little brother Ian is sad that he hasn't lost a tooth yet and all of his classmates had. She makes up a story about a button Fairy and sends Ian to find buttons to put under his pillow so he could get a special surprise. He ended finding a whole bag of button's but Olivia didn't have that many coins to give him. So she came up with the idea to give him apples as his surprise. He was disappointed but took a big bite, and then his tooth fell out! He was so excited and finally got that visit from the Tooth Fairy. A great extension activity for this book would be to have the students draw their own adaptation of what the Tooth Fairy looks like. Another good one would be to have the children write a story about something special their siblings have done for them, or a close friend or family member if they don't have any siblings!
