I'm sad to say I couldn't really get into the book. About five chapters in, I realized it felt like a chore to try to read the book. I couldn't really pinpoint what I didn't like about the book, just that it failed to grab and keep my attention, which is sad because I really wanted to read a military romance. ( )

I'm almost sure I read this once before, but it must have been before I started an online bookshelf or else the information didn't transfer over from Shelfari. I've read three books in this series. I have to say this one was probably my least favorite of the three from what I remember.

This is a combination romance and suspense book. The romance is between Kelly, a widow, and Joe, who was the best friend of Kelly's late husband. The romance occurs 3 years after Kelly's husband's death. The suspense comes from a weapons thief and smuggler. Trying to retrieve something this man stole is when Kelly's husband was killed.

Much as I loved Joe's character, I did get frustrated with him when he decided to break up with Kelly by deciding he knew what was best for her, without ever asking for her input on what he'd decided. I felt they probably could have compromised if they'd just talked things out--and avoided the hurt and heartache that resulted from that process.

I liked that Kelly collected teddy bears to mark special occasions. It reminded me of one of my good friends who used to do the same thing. ( )
