The second book in the Norther Border Patrol series by Terri Reed is Joint Investigation. FBI agent Samantha (Sami) Bennett almost steps into the middle of a drug sting until RCMP inspector Drew Kelley grabs her just before she enters the room. They soon figure out that it wasn’t a real drug bust but an attempted setup by the serial killer “Birdman” (as Sami calls him) to make Sami look guilty of murder. Sami convinces Drew and his superiors that she has a case that has just crossed over into Canada and Drew assigns himself as her partner. Birdman is always one or two steps ahead of Sami but with Drew’s help they will get a better handle on his identity as the two of them grow closer. This is a well written suspense with a blend of romance with strong characters and great secondary characters. So far I have enjoyed both books in this series and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
