In the first one in this collection, overall, it works well. You've got your stereotypical large barbarian type, all muscles, but also with more smarts than most of those around him, and he's got a solid knowledge of magic. Of course, the twist this time around is, the barbarian is black and can actually weild some of that magic.
In comes the inevitable sorceress, who also was a former sexual partner of said barbarian. Okay, stage is set...and...go.
Decent story, if a little disappointing at the end. Great art.
The second story, as someone else mentions, is entirely skippable, and, to be honest, you'll like Thulsa Doom a hell of a lot more if you do skip it. It presents him as someone having no problems with raping, enslaving, and killing children. Not really someone I can get behind, to be honest.
Doubt I'll read any other Thulsa graphic novel collections, should any cross my path. ( )
