This was another great, fact-paced read that kept me reading the whole book in one sitting. Get it....but start at the first book. :-) ( ) I'm addicted to this series! It's getting better and better. This one finds Mort Grant working a grisly homicide outside of his jurisdiction. It's regarding a fire that was set in sweat lodge deep in the woods of Washington State. The brother in law of one of Mort's closest friends Larry was found in the fire. Larry asks Mort if he would find the killer or killers. This book opens poor larry up to a lot of heartaches who is still grieving the loss of his wife from a murder many years ago. His brother in law that was murdered in this fire was his only link to his dead wife. Meanwhile, Allie, Mort's nasty daughter has returned to wreak havoc in her family's lives. She's insistent on becoming involved in her nieces lives which will not happen unless she pays a high price for some of the crimes she's committed. She's not willing to pay that price. Allie decides to go after Lydia, the fixer who has been in retirement and living quietly working with her patients. Allie has plotted out a nasty little scheme that she thinks will force her dad to bring her back into the family fold, but she needs Lydia to relay this message to him. Her plan and recent actions have hit pretty close to home with Lydia and she's gone a bit too far this time. Lydia finds herself in the perfect position to take this nasty piece of work out of their lives once and for all. We are left with the biggest cliffhanger! I can't believe it. I love the characters of this series, it's a police procedural at it finest but with a lot of mystery to it. You can't help but fall in love with Mort, he's still grieving the death of his wonderful wife from years ago. He finds himself socially awkward around an attractive woman who happens to be the chief of police in the town where the fire was set. He's quite comical in the way he handles himself with that issue and it makes him, even more, loveable. He's a wonderful man who has great friends and a wonderful family. Ms. Woods has really created a winner in this series. It's one that will leave you panting for the next installment. I would like to thank Alibi Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with an e-galley of the book for my honest review. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I'll probably never see my daughter again. And if I do, she'll either be dead or in a jail cell. Seattle Chief of Detectives Mort Grant cannot reconcile the memories of his vibrant, headstrong young daughter with the cold, deadly woman she has become. The head of one of the largest criminal enterprises in the world, Allie Grant seized power by wrenching it away from her lover, a notorious Russian gangster. How she maintains her control, Mort doesn't even want to imagine. Only two other people know the truth about Allie: the vigilante known as The Fixer, and Mort's best friend, Larry, who's undergoing a crisis of his own. Someone close to Larry, his last real connection to his beloved late wife, has been slain in a mass murder at a sweat lodge deep in the woods of Washington State. When word gets out, Mort immediately takes on the gruesome case. But as Mort hunts down a pair of methodical killers, The Fixer does some deep digging of her own. And what she unearths will rock Mort's family forever. Because The Fixer has set her sights on Allie Grant-and nothing will ever be the same again. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
