Good Time Waster I needed something to “take me away” from the stresses of my life and this book did it. It wasn’t great and it wasn’t awful. Croc’s Return is a good shifter romance when you need some escapism. The author started the story off really quick and it didn’t let up until the end. It is a fast listen and its keeps you engaged by not having too many unnecessary scenes. I also liked that once the Caleb and Renny accepted their attraction the author didn’t throw in stupid conflicts to keep them apart. They tackled the final climax of the mystery together and that was enjoyable. I try not to criticize narrator’s too much but this one bothered me something fierce. She pronounced “Caleb” like “Cowlub” throughout the book and it drove me nuts. I sometime also got the feeling like the voice could have computer generated like you see on those YouTube videos. I liked the story but it took me a long time to adjust to this narrator. Caleb left town with no explaination and only a text to say he was leaving, refusing to read/respond to any letters. Renny is understandable angry, believing he abandoned her and his child. He returns hoping make amends with his family and Renny. Lots of hints of his abuse during his time in the military, making you think the story is going one way but ends up going another. There's something kidnapping people and Caleb along with others have to figure it out. I can't put my finger on it but something is missing for me in this story, I just couldn't suspend belief. ~ 4 Croc’s Return Stars ~ Croc’s Return is book one in the Bitten Point series by Eve Langlais. Coming home brings with it a few surprise for our hero and heroine, a second chance at romance, and a mystery to solve. To start I’ve never read a reptile shifter story before. It was different, unique, and enjoyable. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the different kind of shifter. Caleb I loved him. I couldn’t understand why he left town, but as you read on you learn what haunts him and why he did what he did. Should he have left, no, but then we wouldn’t have our tortured hero. He’s a good guy trying to fix all the hurt he caused when he disappeared leaving behind his family and the one women he loved. I also really enjoyed his croc and the chats he had with his beast side. Renny, she’s a strong women and I enjoyed her. She dealt with the past well and when a threat comes around she gets on board with being safe. These two worked well together. The romance is slow at first, but they have a lot to deal with from the past. Once they get over that the chemistry sparked and we are treated to some hot scenes. I also liked the development and introduction to other characters in the town of Bitten Point. The little mystery surrounding the town and swamp lands, which brings a few surprises and helped Caleb come to terms with his croc was enjoyable. The mystery does not fully wrap up and looks like it will be carried on into the next book, so I am a we bit interested to see what’ll happen next. Croc’s Return has some suspense, a sweet second chance at love, and some great surprises. I quit enjoyed the reptile shifter aspect and am looking forward to continuing this series. Croc's Return by Eve Langlais Shifters, a reunion lover with son, and good intentions make this humorous romance a romping good time. Caleb is back in Bitten Point after being blackmailed into serving in the military. He doesn't trust himself or his beast. But they must come to terms when danger threatens his son. At times laugh out loud humor, some bitter love and even a bit of smoking hot sex, this book is highly entertaining and hugely recommended First in a series. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I liked it.
But..... I didn't love it.
There was humor and adult romance. Some of it was sweet and some steamy.
The suspense that really needed to be explored more.
Those areas felt rushed.
The mc's were pretty good, but needed more build.
Sometimes repetitive. (My pet peeve)
Dialogue was sometimes stilted.
😕 Maybe I have just gotten pass my Eve Langlais faze. ( )
