This is a nice source book of iturgy with a Celtic bent. I wanted to copy some of the prayers and poetry for my own records, but then I decided I should try to buy this book. There is much beauty in the prayers. I particularly liked Patrick's Evensong ("Christ , Thou Son of God Most High,/MayThy Holy Angels keep..."), Columba's Affirmation ("Alone with none but Thee my God,/I journey on my way...."), That I may Dwell in the Land of Heaven, and the Bidding Prayer of St. Martin. What a great resource for worship planning on any scale: corporate worship, daily prayer, private prayer, or retreats.
This book provides not only background but a thorough liturgy for a number of settings. ( )

From Amazon:

Drawn from a wide range of biblical, ancient, and contemporary sources, A Celtic Primer is the most complete Celtic worship resource available. With its unique blend of materials, this collection offers something both authentically traditional and radically new. The celebration of the work of God in creation and redemption is the theme woven throughout the writing, and it resonates deeply with the contemporary search for a sense of transcendence in daily life.

Based on the historical concept of the primer, which teaches a pattern of daily prayer in the monastic style, A Celtic Primer contains everything necessary for creating liturgies for a wide range of formal and informal worship occasions, as well as for personal prayer. Outlines and a broad selection of texts are included for morning prayer, midday prayer, evening prayer, compline, and a Celtic Eucharist. Seasonal prayers, prayers of penitence, intercessions, hymns, Bible readings, body prayers, a Psalter, and daily meditation texts round out this collection.

This complete manual—along with a CD—makes the perfect tool for clergy, chaplains, worship leaders, and small-group leaders, as well as individuals seeking to establish a pattern of daily prayer.

From the publisher:

Aimed at clergy, worship leaders and individual users, this resource offers ancient and contemporary Celtic texts arranged to meet today's worship needs. Scripture and spiritual readings are included and seasonal variations add to its versatility.
