Too much homage. ( )

Dirk Gently è l'investigatore olistico che Douglas Adams ideò quando si stufò di scrivere la Guida. Il suo peculiare modo di indagare - ritiene che tutto ciò che accade sia intrinsecamente connesso - fa sì che le cose più improbabili si incastrino alla perfezione nel racconto. Da questo punto di vista direi che in questa graphic novel, a parte la copertina assolutamente incongrua, lo spirito di Douglas Adams sia rimasto. (C'è anche un suo cameo...), così come quello di Dirk Gently. O forse l'incongruità è un altro effetto dell'interconnessione di tutte le cose, o se preferite di tutti i re? Il tratto grafico è abbastanza interessante, con piani non standard; la storia è un guazzabuglio ma anche questo ce lo potevamo aspettare. ( )

I was previously unfamiliar with Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently (although of course I've read The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy & The Restaurant at the End of the Universe), but I found the idea of all things being somehow connected intriguing, so I wanted to give it a try.

To say it nicely, I was seriously underwhelmed by this graphic novel. It didn't do anything for me. The story was weird and random, sure, which to some extend I had expected. But it left me confused and it didn't make too much sense. The art was not something that stood out for me either.

Maybe I didn't get the book. It certainly wasn't for me.
