Anthony "Tony" Penrose's parents were friends with one of the premier Spanish Surrealist artists, Joan Miró. In this book, Penrose writes about his childhood impressions of Miró and about the artist's life and art. The book contains illustrations of Miró's work, as well as art by children who were inspired by Miró. The personal connection, including family photos, is a nice entrée for children, and the artwork is very accessible. My only quibble is that it was sometimes difficult to tell which artworks were by Miró and which by children. I feel they could have been better labelled and distinguished. My six- and three- year-olds both enjoyed this story then trying their hand at their own Miró-inspired art. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
