When she finally receives a long-awaited transfer to the Twin Moon Ranch in Arizona, she doesn’t know what to expect but finds a kinship to the earth while avoiding the other wolves at her new home. But she can’t avoid Zach, a mix bred, and her inner wolf knows he’s her mate. A mate she never wanted.
Half coyote and half wolf, Zach knows what it’s like to be an outcast. His two animals constantly nag at Zach and argue with each other in his head, but they’re in agreement when they sniff out Rae. She’s their mate. His best friend, Ty, is the reigning alpha’s son and set to inherit the pack someday. He’s just as lonely as Zach, probably more so, but he’s obedient when it comes to his father. The cruel alpha, Old Tyrone, demands that no one touches the new she-wolf, but Zach can’t help the pull between him and Rae.
Rae and Zach are very likeable characters. The reader feels their hesitancy, loneliness, and alienation, and the strength they both find to love and trust the other.
Though I really liked this shifter story, the fight scene with the bad guy at the end was a little predictable. Rae’s actions over a perceived betrayal irked me, but I understand she needed personal time to fight her own demons before she gave herself fully to her destined mate.
My favorite scene is Zach and Ty’s “play” fight. I love a good bromance, and these two sexy shifters have that down pat.
This is a prequel novella to the Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series, and I’m definitely interested in reading the other books.

I almost gave it a 5 star rating, but there were a few editing mistakes. If we could do half stars, this would be solid 4.5 stars. Goodreads has a new tool that allows you to see your Kindle notes and set them for each read privately or make them public. Mine are public for this book. You can see the 4 editing mistakes I highlighted. I think there was a total of 5. They are minor and do not detract from the story. That is my ONLY reason for 4.5 stars instead of 5.
This is Zach and Rae's story. It is two years before Desert Moon, the 1st book in this series.
Zach is a mix of Wolf and Coyote. His personality is well defined. His magnetism is off the charts. His Wolf and Coyote personas are well represented. The three of them get into discussions in Zach's head and have different takes on particular scenes that make you laugh your butt off!
Rae is a strong female wolf shifter with a special talent. She thinks no one knows about her gift.
You will love both Zach and Rae.
I am very impressed with how well written this is. The descriptions of all the different personalities, the emotions and thoughts, even the scenery are so well done you can feel, see and almost smell what the author is conveying. In truth, I am so fascinated that I have added Anna Lowe to my Goodreads shelf and downloaded the 1st book, Desert Moon, to my Kindle.

Desert Hunt is the prequel to The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series by Anna Lowe. Wither you read the series in order or out, you will fall in love with the characters and world.

Fabulous! Amazing! Another winner! ALowe is an amazing writer. This novella has everything I have come to love from ALowe. Amazing characters, great plot and world, conflict, and romance. I was pulled in from begging to end. We are introduced to some amazing characters that are well defined and easy to connect with. I became so involved that I felt for each and everyone wither they where the secondary characters or our leads. Rae and Zack complemented each other. I enjoyed the lead up to Rae’s secret and learning about Zack. The plot is enjoyable and the world is interesting. I also liked seeing the characters in their earlier period. It foreshadowing to what is to come for some.

Desert Hunt is full of suspense, action, and romance. I highly recommending picking up The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series. Each book is unique and brilliant written. I can’t wait for more from ALowe.

Desert Hunt (Twin Moon Ranch) (prequel) by Anna Lowe

Rae is a special kind of wolf. Abused by her home pack, and mistreated by the pack she escapes to, she is afraid she will never feel safe and free anywhere. She is afraid to trust and she fears a forced mating. Then, she is informed that she is being sent to the Twin Moon Ranch Pack. She doesn't know why, but she knows she has to go and is hoping it is where she will find her freedom.

Zack is considered a low wolf because of his lineage. When in fact, he is an Alpha. He is just very restrained and never shows it or challenges anyone in his pack. His duty is to track trespassers and deal with them. Due to his low status he figures he will never find his mate. After all, what decent female wolf would want a half-breed.

Rae and Zack have a lot of decisions to make. Only time will tell if Zack will live through them and if Rae will learn to trust again. Two very long roads for two very stubborn and confused shifters.
