Jennifer Jenkins is a talented author. I love her writing style and found the book, Clanless, quite entertaining. Background: Zo is a healer, who gained entrance inside the enemy camp to mete out some espionage as a personal payback. Despite the horrors she suffers and witnesses, she still falls in love with the handsome and valiant Gryphon who has his dad's reputation to try to eradicate. I liked Gryphon, he kind of reminded me of John Snow from Game of Thrones (at least that was the face I put on the character). He's a leader who wants to do the right thing and be a good man in the worst of times.

I would've loved to have seen more romance in the romance between Zo and John Snow...I mean, Gryphon. Just my two cents, but what do I know. I know nothing. ( )

I was fortunate enough to also be sent Nameless, the first book of the series, and I was glad for it - Clanless picks up right where Nameless left off and doesn't have as much recap as I'd have liked.
On its own though, Clanless is definitely aimed for teen/young adult readers. It's very well-paced with scene changes that keep you reading for hours but there are times where the main characters worry more about their relationship and whether the other is alive than how they're going to escape from pursuers.
In comparison to Nameless the writing is pretty consistent but the story starts to settle as YA. I'd have liked it to continue as more borderline adult material. Fortunately it's not the last book in the series so I plan on keeping an eye out for the next installment. ( )

I won this book as an Early Reviewer (Thank You!) in exchange for an unbiased review without having read the first book in the series, Nameless. That said, I easily jumped into the action with the author's references to the previous story dropped in at the right times. The overall storyline concerns four separate groups of people vying for resources in a primitive land. The main characters are members of the different clans who have discovered that they have common concerns that unite them in a plan to keep the strongest clan, the Ram, from enslaving the rest. There is an element of fantasy with one tribe having shamans and another having people who can heal with a touch or a word, but it is mostly about conflicted people using their talents and will to survive to unite others against oppression. There are some bloody and violent clashes, but the genuine characters and their camaraderie make for an exciting and enjoyable read. I will be looking forward to reading the next book in the series! This book has a ton of backstory and reads like a middle book in a series. Turns out it is the middle book of the Nameless series. It works as a stand alone novel because many important events are described, but I do not feel the need to go back and read the first book as it seems everything important I just read in this novel. I did enjoy the book, but I'd wait until the third book is available before starting the series unless you like cliffhangers. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. It is action packed and pulls at your heart. The main characters are well developed and endure so much it's impossible not to feel their struggle. Other charecters you may find you want to physically harm yourself!there is nothing better then a book that pulls you into the story and Clanless dose that. Highly recommended. ( )
