This one has a lot of pluses. If there had been a bit more intensity in certain elements of the story it would have been a solid 5 stars.
The world build and both characters, Lexi and Kade, are well developed. The story flows easily.
This story touches on mental health issues. It shows a little about how people who have an issue and those who care about them deal with it.
There were absolutely NO editing errors, typos, repetition nor unnecessary words.
I prefer my romance a little more steamy (erotic) than this one. However there is lots of passion and some very hot scenes. I would rate this one 3.75 out of 5. This is one of those areas I would have prefered a bit more.
The other area that I wish she had enhanced just a little bit is Kade's nemesis, Julian.
All in all, I enjoyed it very much. Now take in consideration that I am more a paranormal suspense romance reader than a contemporary reader. That will tell you that this had to be pretty dang good for me to give it 4.5 stars! ( )

Carly Phillips proves that she can create a deeply moving piece of literary magic. Going Down Easy may not have had the shock value that she normally delivers but her signature style of sensuality was interwoven with a wonderful cast of characters. I didn't expect to cry but I did. A lot. I received an ARC of Going Down Easy in exchange for an honest review. My first opinion of Kaden, a jerk with a chip on his shoulder was somewhat accurate but not completely true. He found it easiest to be an ogre than let any one particularly of the feminine persuasion close enough to hurt him. Lexie girds herself with a smile to hide the heartache and responsibility that has dogged her in her life. She doesn't let anyone close enough to witness the fear she holds deep inside. When a story tackles issues like mental illness which is a struggle that is dealt with on a global scale, I find it holds a deeper meaning within my life. My grandmothers both struggled with depression, dementia and Alzheimer's throughout their lives and so I know what it feels like to want to help someone and know that the issue is bigger than one person can handle. Ms. Phillips showed that in the darkest moments there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for bringing a hidden subject into the light Ms. Phillips. ( )

This book was a very easy read, a couple hours and I was finished. I thought it could've been much better. The plot was good but I feel like there wasn't enough development. Come on married after like 4 months of knowing each other.....Seems a little extreme. I honestly read this not even 2 days ago and don't even remember the main characters names. That means it wasn't the best book. I enjoyed in while reading just not memorable. ( )
