Title: HCSB Illustrator’s Notetaking Bible for Teens

Publisher: B & H Kids; Box Lea Edition
My rating is 5 stars.
The suggested age range for this Bible is for 11-18 years old or grade levels 6-12. There are good reasons to give these as gifts, such as encouraging someone to read the Bible through coloring the pages. If you have someone who might find reading challenging, I think being able to color pictures then return to the text to read some more is a great plus. In the margins are lines to take notes whether the Lord speaks directly to you through the text, a sermon or perhaps even a Bible study. Writing it down and dating it reminds us of His Presence, working in our lives.
The book lays flat when the reader opens it, making highlighting, notetaking or following along in a passage being taught much easier. For people like me who cannot draw, the drawings provided help a great deal. I believe the whole idea of a Bible like this is to personalize it, especially with any notes left with dates. Why? To me, it is a testimony of your relationship with God through His Word that generations can look at and turn to for encouragement, hope, etc. when they are going through perhaps a tough time or trial.
In the back of the Bible is a great tool to help us share our faith with other people. There is a concordance and colored maps to aid the student to know the God of the Word! Using the maps reminds us of where the apostle Paul traveled or how Jerusalem as a city was laid out. No matter whether you utilize all the pictures or not, the main thrust of this Bible is to open it up and let God speak to your heart as He longs to do with each of us who turn to Him.
