Henry David Thoreau wrote "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." Charlie Fusco has done just that and then takes it a step further. Charlie writes an honest, readable book about her life journey to becoming a CEO of her own company. Charlie documents her triumphs, missteps, failures, challenges, mistakes, successes, errors, etc. She holds back nothing in her effort to show women, and even men, what can be accomplished if you take that first step to controlling your life and making choices. In Brains, Boobs and Balls, Charlie pours out her soul about how she went for her dream. Charlie includes her few compromises, her lost focus, how she rose like a Phoenix from a near bankruptcy, retook full control of her finances, engaged her clients, grew a company that now has 600+ employees and all while being a sexy wife and raising 3 children. Charlie’s book is a hands on guide showing how to go for what you dream. Her often funny, always blunt, intelligent and practical advice on how to succeed in the business world as a woman, wife, partner, mother, CEO, etc. is truly a must read for any woman who wants to do more with her life. Men will also enjoy her comments since it is written as a commentary on what she has done, didn’t do, should have done and is doing now to make her dream of being a CEO of her own company work for her and her family. Charlie has structured her book with some great ideas, sage advice and winning concepts. Charlie present 17 lessons, starting with her explanation of Brains, Boobs and Balls (some of her funniest stories), through her lesson on Core Drivers (my personal favorite), her concept of the 3Ps, Play, Passion and Progress, a lesson on Compartmentalizing (which all woman do to survive), and other valuable ideas. Charlie lays out all her lessons and concepts that she invented or embraced on her 15+year drive to be her own boss and a CEO of a company. Charlie does this is such a way that her personal, business and family journey take on a life of their own. We can all relate to something in this book because it is a fun read. What Charlie doesn’t do it is recognize all the mentoring she did over those 15+ years. She obviously gave many on her staff direct input on how to make their dreams come true. Charlie has given back to her community by hiring local residents in a small southern New Jersey town. Charlie briefly touches on her local hires but never takes credit for what her company does for the local community. Charlie, while aggressive in her business dealings is humble when it comes to her community involvement. Charlie is a great role model for any woman wanting to rise up and control her destiny. Brains, Boobs and Balls is a page-turner all the way. A must read for any woman wanting more out of life. You can control your destiny. ( )
