First off, I need to say that I received this free audiobook from Library Thing's Member Giveaway.

This is my first volume of true crime stories by Jack Rosewood and I wasn't sure what to expect. I haven't read many true crime books, but I love mysteries and police procedurals. Rosewood's stories tell about the crimes, but not the process of catching the perpetrators, which is generally my favorite part. Please keep that in mind when you consider my rating.

I appreciated hearing about crimes in countries other than the U.S. for a change, but it seemed to be mainly a setup for Rosewood's conclusions about crime.

I also liked the straightforward and relatively rapid narration. ( )

I listened to this audiobook on Audible and it was a very good listen! The stories weren't all ones that I had heard about in the past but some I have so it was interesting to listen to. Short and easy to listen to. My husband is not a big reader but this was right up his alley being an audio version plus on true crime which is one of his few interests.

I received this book through LibraryThing giveaway for my honest opinion/review which I have given here. ( )

'Truly Shocking Yet Interesting Crime Stories!'

It's true that the world can be a cruel place - and this audiobook details crimes that proves this. This crime book by Jack Rosewood is a great book and if I had a copy, I would read it along with listening to this audiobook, as it provides more to the experience of knowing more about the crime stories. The narrator, Herschel J. Grangent Jr., is an excellent narrator and sounded very clear the whole way. I was able to follow the audio throughout, and had to continue to listen to find out what happened in the various crimes mentioned in this book. I will definitely be reading or listening to Volume 1 & 2 of the True Crime Stories series to discover what other shocking crimes have occured.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. ( )

True Crime Stories 3 is about twelve different murder cases, and they all took place in America. These murders are terrible and as the title says shocking. The first murder is about a 17 year old girl who's name was Melaniee Road. She was a good girl and had no criminal record but. One day when she was walking home from the bar a man stabbed her to death. The milkman found her five hours later. The second murder is about a familie that went to start a new life in California. One day they were all found stabbed and beaten to death with the smashed window. Everyone in that area was a suspect. Soon the case went cold, and they started letting people look where they were murdered. Unfortunately all the evidence was erased from all the visitors.
The third murder is about a man with the name of the "Axe Man". His real name is Joseph, however he was a South African runner who competed in the Olypics of 2012. He was kind of like OJ Simpson they both committed terrible acts of hate. All his fame ended when he found out his daughter had been hurt by a gang. So he went to seek revenge with his axe and his BIBlE. He walked around reading the BIBLE and chopped up his victims. The fourth murder is about Rayan Lane, a father who wanted to get closer to his daughter since he was divorced. The mom didn't like that, so one day he went to go somewhere and was never seen again. It turned out that the moms two brothers burned his body. The fifth murder is about a young girl named Junko Furuta. One day the sixteen year old girl was walking home from school when a van pulled up and kidnapped her. They didn't kill her instead they tortured her for 40 days! They would beat her and burn her with cigarettes and other stuff, they didn't let her eat either. Instead they made her eat bugs and drink her own urine. One day she died from shock, so they barried her in cement .
The sixth one is a massacre, Christian Dorniers. Christian was a good boy but when he grew up he had anger issues. One day he snapped and decided to shoot everyone. First he shot his family with his pregnant wife. Then he drove downtown and shot more people. Good thing the police came and stopped him.
The seventh murder is about a girl named Jessica Keen. Jessica was a troubled teenager. Her parents got sick of it and sent her to a school far away from the troubles. One day when she was waiting at the bus stop alone a man came up and chased her trying to kill her. She was found dead in the graveyard stabbed to death. The eighth is basically the same as the sixth murder. The ninth murder is about a man who one day decided to get in his white van and go run over kids and parents after school was let out. Good thing the police came before he ran anybody else over. The tenth murder is supposedly the " Real Life Zombie". His real name is Tyree Smith and he was a homeless man. One day he fell asleep at and abandoned house. A man woke him up and offered him to sleep inside, but instead of thanking him he hit him with an axe. Then he ate his eyeballs and his brain, he said the eyeballs tasted like oysters. The eleventh murder was about an old couple who were found in their car with blood everywhere. No one found out about their murder but they found a culprit and arrested him because of the money he took from them. The twelfth murder was basically the same as the eight and sixth murders because they all are crazy and killed many people.

I liked this book a lot, I couldn't put the book down! I really like mysteries and murders. I don't mean it like that, I wish they never happened. I recommend if you don't like blood then you shouldn't read this. I did get bored when the cases went cold because it just made the story longer and I just wanted to get to the next chapter. The only reason I gave it a four star rating was because it lacked detail and it got boring in some parts. Otherwise the book is great and I recommend it. ( )

Jack Rosewood has done a fairly good job with all three books in series, True Crime Stories, Vol. 1, 2 and 3. Since they are all so similar, I am rolling a review of all three into this review. Mr. Rosewood’s writing is clear and the facts are well presented, except I wish he had gone into a bit more detail sometimes, as he jumps for the crime or evidence to the outcome rather abruptly and quickly. Some of the stories are about crimes that are solved. Some stories concern crimes, or probable crimes, that have gone into the cold case file. Some are about what might even be a miscarriage of justice, as his presentation of facts leaves the reader to wonder who or how a conviction ever occurred. The stories span a large amount of time. These are stories of interest, but stories which have not received enough coverage or exposure in the news or anywhere, for that matter. I enjoyed reading them, though I often wanted more details. However, Mr. Rosewood probably did not want to get caught up in minutia about with cases, which could easily happen, so kept things to a bare minimum. I really liked the format of the stories, as I could pick up the book, read a bit, and put it down when necessary, resuming my reading as time and circumstances permitted. I am not sure I would have enjoyed them as much if I had raced through the books, as some of the stories were not that easy to take. Overall, I enjoyed reading them. I think anyone looking for a good look at crime because of interest or career will find these three books well worth the time and effort. I highly recommend them, if you fit this type of reader mold. I received these from Library Thing to read and review. ( )
