I needed help with abandonment issues from childhood and on, and thought this workbook would help me work through the triggers. Instead, it made me more depressed. It was all about the author's divorce and her reactions. Nothing was about other abandonment issues; it was as if her loss was important to develop a system for us to follow. The cover needs to be re-designed to show that it is about divorce losses and the emotions around that. The author needs to get into therapy, not write a book about HER feelings. My divorce was nothing compared to my sexual assaults and the abandonment nightmares I have. I have a friend going through a bad divorce and this book relies too much on her interpretation using such things as "The 12 Swan Lessons". Cute, but when depressed this is just too much to understand and use. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"Through therapists and word-of-mouth, thousands have discovered this formerly out-of-print classic. This is because abandonment - stemming from divorce, breakups, death, or the loss of friendship, health, a job, or a dream - is a challenge faced in every life. No other workbook so directly and practically addresses this issue. Readers learn to face five stages - shattering, withdrawal, internalizing, rage, and lifting - with concrete recovery tools, including discovering and healing old, underlying issues; identifying self-defeating behaviors of mistrust and insecurity; and building self-esteem. While healing from heartbreak and freedom from pain are the goals of most sufferers, readers also lay the foundation for experiencing a renewed, perhaps better-than-ever, sense of self and a profound ability to love and be loved"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
