I did not particularly care for this book for a variety of reasons. To be specific, I don't feel that the language used was engaging, because it did not pull me in or interest me as a reader. Although, this might possibly be because I already knew the plot of the story as I was reading it. I also felt that even though the readable words would be great for K-2nd grade readers, I felt that some of the words chosen were a little too graphic for this age group. To be specific, when the ogre states "I smell the blood of a Englishman, I don't care if he's dead, or if he's alive, I'm going to grind his bones.." I felt that this might be a little to violent for this age group and that it may scare some children of this age group. I also felt that the illustrations weren't particularly fascinating, even though they contained vivid colors, the detail of the illustrations seemed very dull. The big picture of this story is to listen to what your mother tells you to do, or you might have a very big problem on your hands, like a blood-thirsty ogre. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
