Mail-Order Mother  Recently widowed and pregnant, Millie Steele needs a husband to help provide for her unborn child, and becoming a mail-order bride is her only option. Thankfully, her new husband, Kansas farmer Adam Beale, only wants a mother for his two young children--not romance. Everything is going according to plan...until Millie begins to fall for Adam.  Adam had reservations about wedding another city dweller--his late wife never took to life on the prairie. But now he can't imagine his family being complete without Millie and her unborn baby. Though they agreed to a strictly platonic partnership, can real love be blooming in Adam and Millie's marriage of convenience?… (meer)

When Millie’s husband dies and she’s left pregnant and with no money, she seeks to become a mail-order bride. Widower Adam is looking for a mother for his two young children (a daughter and a son), and agrees to a marriage of convenience with Millie. He will provide for her and her unborn child, and she will be a mother to his children and take care of the household chores while he’s out working in the fields. Neither Adam or Millie is looking for romance, but it’s just what they end up getting.

This was a really sweet and gentle historical romance. I enjoyed how Adam’s and Millie’s feelings for each other slowly came about when they were least expecting anything romantic. I liked how Adam was such a good provider and really took care of his family. Sometimes Millie drove me a bit nuts since she tended to focus too much on the negative side of things, but I did like that she eventually grew to look toward the good over time. The children were both adorable and sweet. And a prairie fire livened things up along the way in this very enjoyable story. ( )
