Rated "Good" in our old book database by Rod and Adelia ( ) "Ka-choo! Who's sneezing? It's the cow, the chickens, the pigs, the turkeys, the donkey and the sheep! All the farm animals have the flu, and Mom is out of town. Luckily, her son knows just what his mom would do, if it were he who had the flu! He nurses the whole barnyard back to health, and, eventually, back to the barn. "A humorous rhyming story that's as much fun to look at as it is to read... Westcott's lively illustrations add comedic touches throughout. The turkey working the TV remote and the chickens sipping from juice boxes are sure to elicit giggles. Great fun for reading aloud." — School Library Journal" -- Scholastic, Inc. This book is a patterned book and would be great for young children. It follows a pattern of an animal getting sick and the boy takes care of them just as his mother would do if he had the flu, as soon as one animal is tucked into bed, another animal group is sick, first its a cow, then the chickens, then he pigs. Eventually he realizes that they are not sick anymore and are faking it in order to stay inside and watch tv. He tells them that if they are still sick then they are going to stay in bed with no tv, and only eat mush. They all run out of the house because they aren't really sick. Then on the next page the boy is sick and all the animals proceed to take care of him as he did for them. This book has great illustration and is very engaging to read due to the rhyming pattern. The images greatly match the text which would help a learning reader. Use: This book could be used to teach about false truth or about abusing privileges. It also could show that we should repay kind deeds with kind deeds. Genre: Fantasy- This book fits the fantasy category because the farm animals all get the flu and begin living in the house. They ask for soup, and popcorn and other things that do not happen with a real farm animal. Mode: Cartoon illustration This book is about a little boy who lives on the farm. When his mom was out of town all the farm animals got the flu. The books explain what each animals sneeze sounds like. The little boy helps all the animals when they are sick. When he nursed all the animals to health then he got sick and the animals took care of him. I loved the illustrations in this book they were very colorful. This book is great to teach what animals live on the farm. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
