This book was so disappointing after I loved the intrigue and suspense of the first in this series. However, that level of complexity was completely missing from this one. It was hard to stay interested in this superficial world without the suspenseful plot from the first book to keep it going. It was bad people continuing to do bad things without the motives to change that were in the first book. Minor problems popped up but were quickly resolved or never developed deeper so it was hard for me to care about them. I felt like the writer was told to write more in this world and did so, but without a strong idea of how to keep the story going. By the end, I hated the main characters and wanted it to be over. The promise of the first kept me reading, but this book fell far short of my expectations. ( )

I have been anticipating this book for about a year. I remember last year finishing Glitter and NEEDING to know what comes next. Thanks to RandomHouse I was able to receive an ARC of Shatter that I devoured in the past 24 hours. I absolutely LOVE Glitter and now I can say that I absolutely LOVE Shatter. It expands more into the story and the inner workings of the society she lives in. I enjoyed learning more about the politics and scheming that goes on behind closed doors. This book kept me turning pages, not wanting to stop. It made me laugh out loud in some moments, tear up during others, and most of all, it made me feel like I was a part of that world. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes for a book that will sweep them off their feet! ( )

I really enjoyed reading Glitter, book 1 in this series last year but I have to share that I enjoyed reading Shatter, book 2 even more! I loved this book's setting where near future modern day people live in the The Palace of Versailles as if they are living at the French court in the 1700's as well as the characters and the plot.

This book is packed with romance, action and adventure and it had me hooked from start to finish. I was a bit blown away at some of the secrets revealed at the end of the book and I have to admit, it makes me want to read both books over again! I highly recommend it!
