I received a sampler of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. So this is a great recipe book! It really really is! But that's not the reason why it gets 5 stars. There are many good cook books out there. Some make cooking fun and others make it way too complicated. Nadiya Hussain made it personal. She let us take a long look at her personal life and family dynamics, giving us a great explanation behind what inspires her and her culinary endeavors. That was so amazing! When it comes to aesthetics, I was pleasantly surprised. The photographs are made to draw you in, creating a level of familiarity between you and Nadiya. The food looks scrumptious (obviously) and the recipes are realistic. Realistic, as in easy to follow for the average cook. You really do not need to be advanced in the culinary arts to be able to make her cheese scones with chive butter (which I will try to prepare this week!). I will be purchasing the hard back and potentially be investing in more Nadiya books! Nadiya Hussain has been taken to the hearts of Britain following her win on 'The Great British Bake Off' and it is easy to see why. She has a very warm and friendly approach to writing which seems to mirror her on screen personality and her food is simplicity itself. Written to accompany the TV series of the same name this is a collection of simple recipes designed to make the most of quality ingredients. Some criticism has been levelled that the recipes are too simple, some of them are but that never stopped Delia Smith! There is nothing worse that a book which shows a picture of a stunning dish which then demands a huge list of ingredients which are a) expensive and b) difficult to get hold of. I particularly like the spicy twists she makes on some classics. The whole point of this book is about accessibility, Nadiya's whole concept is to be the woman next door, an ordinary housewife with a talent for cooking and an infectious and enthusiastic personality. The photography is stunning and the book is like a warm friendly hug. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
