A lovely meditation on fatherhood, told from the perspective of St. Joseph. Likely to use this one with 3rd and 4th graders. It is Nativity-themed without being the usual litany of animals. ( ) Summary: this book is a book about Joseph the father of Jesus. It starts off the night Jesus was born with Jesus's dad gazing at the baby with anxiety and worries as to how he will care for the child of God, Joseph takes glance in the feature of all of the things he will have to teach his son, he feels like he is not worthy because his child is the Messiah. In the end Joseph realizes he was called to be Gods helping hands and he is not alone in the challenge of raising the child Personal reaction: I liked this book because the Author took a creative stance, and puts the reader in Joseph's shoes. with all of the challenges we face as parents. I have never personally ever thought how Joseph might have felt about this challenge, but if I had to raise the messiah. I would most defiantly feel the same way. Classroom extension: 1. I would talk to the students about who scary it could be to take care of things of others i would explain that the baby belong to a very important person and Joseph felt like he dad to do a very good job of caring for him. 2. I would have the students being their own favorite personal Item from home. and I would explain to the class that these items had to be cared for very carefully because they didn't belong to them. and i would have them tell me how they felt when they had to take extra special care of their friends Item. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
'So, long after the star had set, after the angels had roosted, after the shepherds had hurried back to their sheep, there was one person still awake in a dark stable, watching over a sleeping child.' Complemented by Fabian Negrin's atmospheric illustrations, this picture book is destined to become a classic. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
