The first two were quite decent, but I found this one more annoying than enjoyable. It felt like the author had not quite gotten all her thoughts in order before putting them down. It was choppy, leaping all over the place and making hard and sudden shifts in both perspective and tone. I found myself merely skimming over parts of it, just wanting to find out where the story was going. Being part of a series, there is by necessity a fair amount of redundancy tossed in as a means of bringing readers who may be jumping into the series with this book "up to speed" with the back story. These sections felt as though they were just crammed in out of necessity instead of being part of the storyline itself. Ultimately, the book left me with a feeling of being both rushed and poorly organized. Many of the characters felt shallow and seemed to adhere to no core personality. This in turn made them somewhat hard to like. I simply felt that the book could have been so much better with just a little more time and editing. Having said this, I will read the next book in the series. I enjoyed the first two and am hoping this one is an aberration. The basic storyline of the series is interesting and one I have not encountered before. This third installment of the Night Slayer Series is headed up by Detective John Brohler who has been working a series of murders he refers to as "The Exsanguinator Cases". Despite the unreality of it John can only come to one conclusion about who, or what, the culprit can be. Jessica Winslow comes for a long line of vampire hunters and has come to the United States to prove herself and her slaying abilities to her family. What she finds isn't at all what she expected. Unfortunately of the Night Slayer books I've read so far this probably is my least favorite. The hero was a little too pushy for my taste while the heroine seemed a bit to scatterbrained to live. I won't say that I hated this book, because I liked it. Just not as much as the others in the series so far. I would still recommend it to readers of this series and lovers of paranormal romances. It kept my attention and I really enjoyed learning more about the chupacabras. The author has really worked out a fascinating dynamic between the creatures, the vampires and the slayers and I will continue to read future installments of the series. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

As far as Jessica Winslow is concerned, the only good vampire is a staked vampire. Ever since a vampire killed her mother when she was only five, Jessica dedicated her life to staking as many vampires as possible. So she journeys to America where a colony of chupacabras lives and, if she has her way, will soon die. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

It's not a bad read, nothing stood out in it but I didn't hate the time spent. (
