Bad Boys make for great characters in stories, at least I think so, and when these guys are also rich and determined to get what they want, they are all the more tantalizing. And since this story is a particularly fun and hot example of the “struggling guy meets rich bad boy” kind, with the bad boy also able to play the knight in shinning armor, when needed, I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Ryan is struggling financially, but he is happy in his job as a paralegal. Law school just wasn’t his thing, and he made the tough but admirable decision to drop out. Of course now he is saddled with all the student loans, his mother’s disdain, and a contemptuous ex-girlfriend who wants to go places at any cost. To top it all off, Ryan is attached by a psychotic coworker who just won’t take no for an answer. His rescuer, Mr. Tall-Dark-And-Handsome himself, not only gets him out of that particular emergency, he reappears on the yacht Ryan is on for a dinner cruise. Ryan has no idea how to handle the situation when Jansen seems to flirt with him, but is ex tells him it’s her the rich businessman really wants.

Jansen is overjoyed to see Ryan again and determined not to let him slip through his fingers a second time. He is a bit of a caveman about it, but as the evening progresses and he sees Ryan’s reactions to his flirting as well as the evil ex’s cruel attempts to snag Jansen for herself, Jansen’s attitude begins to change. I wouldn’t say he becomes a total convert to civilized behavior, but his rough edges become smooth enough so they won’t hut Ryan. Probably.

If you like stories about rich men and the guys they go after, if you enjoy reading about financially struggling men who keep their head above water despite the odds, and if you think having both of them meet up for some hot flirting followed by even hotter action, then you will probably like this very entertaining novella.
