First of all, I didn't realize it was part of a series and this is the second book in the series. I HATE going into a book series not with the first one, but I thought I would give it a whirl because maybe it would be a good standalone. Nope, nada. I did not like the main character at all. Like oh there's these pretty women and I'm flirting with them when I should be doing my job and there's a dead man hanging in their garage? Rolls eyes. As a fan of Kinsey Malone, this P.I. fell flat for me and I only made it to page 46! Yup cannot continue reading it or finishing it. Sending it off to greener pastures.Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. This was a fun book, having read Sam Spade books I enjoyed PI Mort. His relationship with Lucy was hysterical but oddly believable.Very easy reading. The plot was just twisted enough to keep you interested. I requested and was lucky to receive a copy of “Gumshoe on the Loose” by Rob Leininger from The Librarything’s Early Reviewers program. First off I enjoyed this book. The beginning was very slow and I wasn't sure i could finish it, but when he got to the desert diner the book started jumping and form then on was a fun, fast read. The characters were well drawn for not being the first book in a series. You know there was more to the past but not enough that would discourage one to not to pick up the other books. I would recommend this book. I did pass it on to my wife to read. Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. Rob Leininger's latest book in the Gumshoe series, Gumshoe on the Loose, is a fast paced story with a rowdy, locker room dialogue to keep you entertained. Mortimer Angel (or as he prefers--Mort) and his new assistant, Lucy Landry, are the perfect duo to solve a murder. Their back-and-forth repartee is engaging. However, too much of the bawdy nature of their conversations to me was a distraction to the story. I'm still thinking about seeking out the first 2 books in the series....but not too seriously. This thriller about an ex-IRS agent turned P.I. Was quite entertaining. The more I read, the faster I turned the pages. I’ll look for other novels by Rob Leininger. Plus I learned what Occam’s Razor means. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Mort is shocked when he learns the identity of the girl's father--and even more shocked when the father hires him to investigate the murder. Mort, being Mort, accumulates a few felonies as he follows the clues to Las Vegas.
