While the core message is a good one, an encouragment to enjoy small moments in life and not strive for an unattainable perfection, it's honestly just also not original or particurally insightful. Graham talks a lot about her own personal theatre experiences, and then kind of says, "Oh, don't worry if you don't get the big roles in life!", glossing over any true depth. Even as a revised commencment speech this is quite lacking, and sounds more life advice to give to freshmen coming into highschool rather than seniors leaving. Just very basic overall. ( )

Short, exuberant book with some life advice from Lauren Graham on how to find joy and satisfaction. ( )

I’m a big fan of Gilmore Girls, so I thought a book by one of the actresses would probably be fun. This book is based on a graduation speech Graham gave at her old high school. It’s nice, fluffy advice, suitable for a graduation speech. It’s not especially deep, but it’s her experience, and something many will be able to relate to. ( )

Solid advice. Fast read. Worth listening to.

This short book began as a commencement speech by Lauren Graham at her hometown high school. She gives some good advice and adds in some humorous moments. She says to find joy in what you are doing, even when that joy is not finding you. Also, she concludes that your job doesn’t define you, but your bravery, kindness, and gratitude do. You are enough, just as you are. And don’t worry - you are one of The Best. Well said. ( )
