I was not a huge fan of the book. However, I did like the ending of how Blast Off Boy thought his project was the worst, yet he ended up winning thanks to his bean sprouting. It has themes of feeling out of place and not good enough, but the delivery of the story was not engaging enough for me to really get into it and fully enjoy the book. ( )

Blast Off Boy from Earth, who is an average student, gets chosen to go to the planet Meep, which is filled with geniuses and Blorp, who is highly advance in school, is chosen to go to Earth. Blast Off Boy become nervous when it is announce at his school on Meep that he will have to participate in a science fair. He feels that Science is his worst subject. Blorp, on the other hand is overly excited when he hears about the science fair at his school and is sure he will win. On Meep, everyone is excitedly talking about their projects when Blast Off Boy challenges the smartest alien at their school. A challenge Blast Off Boy is weary about since he did not have an idea for his project yet, but will not show his fear. Blorp begins working on his hopefully prize winning project when another boy, Lenny, tries to help him but Blorp dismisses him. On the day of the science fair on Earth, Blorp brings in his huge, mysterious project which turns out to be a can opener. Blorp has no idea that a can opener already exists on Earth and is disheartened to hear this news as he wins an honorary prize for his effort and enthusiasm. He then apologizes to Lenny for not listening to him. But then all of the children begin playing on his project and the Principal declares that this is just what the playground needs. Blorp feels that this is prize enough. On Meep, the day of the science fair arrives and Blast Off Boy still is without a project. His friends told him to have fun but he put no effort into having fun or the project. Suddenly he has an idea to combine two everyday things, Pluto beans and Jupiter juice. He is sure he will get a D at most. His concotion suddenly begins to grow into a huge plant. The judges are so impressed they give him a prize for best experiment. The excitement doesn't end there. His plant ate the student he challenged! This is a fun and engaging story for young children to get them excited for science and to see two very different attitudes and outcomes! ( )

When Blast Off Boy trades places with Blorp, an alien, they attend a science fair. The boys project does not impress the other aliens and Blorp has overdone his project. This is a fun book about science that children will love to read. ( )

Two students had to complete a project for the science fair. One had confidence about his project the other did not. Blorp had confidence in his project, he had a huge project, he made it out of anything that he could find in the house but unfortunuately it was already invented so he did not win the first place price. Blast Off Boy lacked confidence in his project because he knew science was his worst subject. He was so worried about the science fair that he didn't make his project until last minute. He had leftover Pluto beans from lunch so he smashed them into a empty milk carton and added water. He thought he would get away with just a D but as soon as the judges walked over to his booth, the Pluto beans started to grow. The grew so tall, the judges were stunned. When he found out that he won first prize he was super happy. It goes to show that you need confidence in yourself because you can definitely succeed as long as you try your best. I enjoyed the story line, but I don't necessarily think I can use it in a science lesson, unless a student is having trouble coming up with a project. Overall good book! ( )

The book was very cute for children. The book was about two boys who go to school, one on Earth and the other on a different planet. They have to create a science project and the story takes the characters through some different obstacles. The story is very cute and enjoyable for children to read. It is still a science book, but it is a fun easy read for children just to get enjoyment out of. ( )
