Henning Juul is grieving the death of his son from a fire in their apartment in Oslo. He believes that the fire was not an accident and sets out to investigate the circumstances. Henning is a crime reporter and believes that arson was used to scare him away from his current story. He sets out to find any connections between this fire and his current case. While investigating the fire, he feels that his life along with his associates is in constant danger. This makes it hard to trust anyone including the local police. In an interesting twist, the darker side of Oslo gets narrated from the criminal's point of view. As the story develops, clues are revealed and all the characters eventually merge towards a dramatic conclusion. This is the fifth and final novel in the series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. I enjoyed Killed and the escalating tension kept me engaged to the end. The release date for the book in the United States is June 2018. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Thomas Enger has written the final Henning Juul thriller and once again you will be gripped by this taut and compelling thriller. Killed is an emotional thriller filled with dark secrets, with a gripping narrative that is tense from beginning to end.
Crime reporter Henning Juul thought that his life was over when his son was murdered as a threat to him. As he tries to find the person responsible for the killing of his son, by doing so, he puts his life in danger and of those all around him. The darkness that surrounds him everywhere he goes, also seems to envelop those around him too.
He has worked out that his own sister is involved, somehow, and he needs to work out why, and what caused her to be. With the possibility that people that everyone who needs to contact may be hiding something from him. Who can he trust, or does he put his trust in the wrong people?
Killed is packed with tensions with unexpected twists, so it does not make it easy for the reader to workout who is the paymaster, the person paying the piper. This book will leave you breathless, keep you gripped and really does explode.
Kari Dickson has translated this from the Norwegian and has lost none of that Nordic darkness from the story. Well done Orenda Books. ( )
