I really loved this book, it had all the elements of a fantastic YA fantasy. Jo and Victoria are sisters who couldn’t be more different. When their mother dies, and they are forced to face the truth of their origins, they are brought into a world they never would’ve guessed existed. Within the world, they each have their own roles, one as a Reaper and one as a Guardian.

Jo was my favorite character. She was feisty and strong. She did not back down even when other characters did.

The thing that bothered me about this book though was the two six month jumps within the story. The first is when Jo is first brought into the Reaper world and the second is just after she begins reaping. I feel as if a lot of the story is lost for these jumps. These time periods would’ve shown some real character development and would’ve helped the reader to divulge into this book’s world more thoroughly. With the time skip, I felt as if there was a bit of an info dump to explain it all, and it’s a shame because the book has so much going for it.
