From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes an emotionally captivating and thrilling, romantic suspense. At first, his words were harsh and his touch cold. I knew he was a dangerous man and he could destroy me if only he wanted to. That's not what he wanted though. It's not what he needed. It's not what I desired either. It's so easy to get lost in the touch of a man who's powerful and unattainable. A man who wants for nothing ... except me. Soft touches and stolen glances made my blood heat and my heart beat in a way I never knew it could. Yes, it's easy to fall into a haze of lust and desire. But there's a reason his reputation is one of a heartless man. And I should have known better.… (meer)

Heartless who?

The continuing story of Carter and Aria. How much pain are these two people in? And how can they help one another if they aren't honest? The fight between crime lords has this couple struggling. Still compelling, still not over. (If you saw my review for book 1, you know that I resented having to buy this. Now I have to buy book 3 - and probably 4 - but they are a decent length. I saw an 83 page story for more than I paid for this.) ( )

** spoiler alert ** I like how it continues from Merciless and keeps the storyline. I've read many books and the sequel has a different storyline but the same characters. Its nice to see it continuing the plot as Merciless laid out.

Overall it has a rollercoaster of emotions and feels. You never knew if the feelings that were there were feeling while last very long or not.

Carter is still obsessed with Aria, as well as controlling. Slowly showing how he feels for Aria, but refusing to show it even though its obvious to everyone but Aria who is either not seeing it, or refusing to see it.

Aria is still broken, damaged and is healing SLOWLY from the death of her mother and being taken from her family. She is still caring and loving, even to those who are refusing to allow her to go home.

Carter opening up about his past opened me up more to the book. More than the first one. It gave me more of an insight as to why Carter is how he is and I think that is why I have enjoyed this book more than Merciless. Having more of a backstory I wasnt able to put this book down for long and not ashamed of the fact either. I had time at work because I was missing the book.

The ending is good, another cliffhanger of all things. Just hoping it continues like this one has. ( )

ARC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-17/7/18

So this is book two in the Merciless series and one I was desperately awaiting after that shocking finale we were treated to in its predecessor.
So in "Heartless" we actually dial it down a notch and instead really just concentrate on the overall dynamic that is building between Aria and Carter and here I felt we get much more of a sense of connection between the two; more so than I originally felt in Book one.
While this was great and I did really enjoy exploring and deciphering the obscurity which is Carters' brain as well as getting to understand more of what makes Aria tick this did mean a much slower pace overall.
For that reason alone, I think I enjoyed this slightly less than "Merciless"
It just wasn't as all-out action and I felt it did drag slightly at times.
I mean book one was just so hectic and I think I was expecting this to be along a similar vein.
This wasn't necessarily bad just different.
I still really enjoyed this a whole lot though; it was just much more internal angst than I was anticipating until about 70 percent in that is; here it then did start to pick up majorly barreling headlong towards another major cliffhanger.
And that's another thing I could have sworn this was a duo, not what looks to be a four-parter so I was kinda expecting a conclusion that we didn't actually get; got to say I was a tad bummed out at that fact.
This again had few minimal characters as practically all events occur at the house under lockdown.
This was also as expected super hot setting the pages alight with its raw sensuality.
Told in duel POV and after that ending; well its safe to say I for one will be waiting anxiously for the next chapter here.
This was a great second instalment that I am happy to recommend.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "Heartless" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.
