I was super excited to stumble upon this Dark Corners collection of short stories by various authors via my Amazon Prime library (Amazon Original Stories.) I like that the stories are available individually on both my Kindle and Audible account. There are seven stories in the collection perfect for fans of the horror genre. In this second installment by Lisa Unger, I loved the ode to the Bates Motel. A woman, Eve, traveling alone, obviously running from someone and some terrible event, stops at a motel to rest for the night. She is the only gust. A single man runs the handed down family business. Eve hears strange noises at night, indicating there is at least one other guest, but no evidence is found when she investigates. Something is definitely amiss… I liked the story well enough. The ending started to get confusing with a rapid switch to Eve at the motel and the event that led Eve to flee. I think I understand the ending, but I didn’t really care for the confusion. Unfortunately, that made the story fall a bit flat for me. An Amazon Original and Kindle Short Read. She’s on the run. She has a fake ID, a .38 revolver, and a broken down Mustang when she checks into the Sleep Tight Motel. But if she’s the only one checked in, why does she keep hearing things in the next room - including a woman screaming? In this noir thriller by bestselling crime thriller author Unger, you’re never quite sure exactly what’s going on until the very end. Four Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I really did not care for this book at all. It seem to drag along and what parts did not drag were hard to understand who was doing what. I just did not care for it. DNF ( )
