The story had me gripped for the most part and the protagonist was also not a dumbass. The story had weight to it, it was not predictable, making it a good thriller. Also, the reveal at the end gave me slight goosebumps. The suspense was well-maintained throughout the text. All in all, I really liked the book. By far, for me this was the best of all Chetan Bhagat books I've read till now, as it's plot was strong and potential and had a number of (not-too)interesting characters. I'm taking away half a star as I think more improvements could have been made. First of all i found the book cover to be amazing and attractive. The novel opens up with a conversation between the author(Chetan Bhagat) and Keshav Rajpurohit in a flight to Delhi who was telling his unlove story to him. The story mainly revolves around a muslim kashmiri girl called zara who lived in room no 105 (her hostel room) pursuaing Phd from IIT New Delhi. The girl gets murdered at her birthday night in her hostel room.Keshav Rajpurohit -her ex- boy friend madly in love with her along with his best friend Saurabh who worked at Chadan coaching classes as teachers investigate the case to find out the murderer. It is an unlove story which has many suspects including her fiance - Raghu, her dean- Professor Saxena, her own father, her senior- Faiz, her step brother- Sikander. So who really killed her and why??.Will Keshav find him??. This novel has a complete mixture of thrill, suspense and humour. The language is easy to understand and it keeps the reader intact while reading ,also the suspense adds up the interest in the story. The reader can easily imagine the scenarios and may find the events actually happening. Saurabh's character adds a pinch of humour in the story although being intelligent and a tech guy, usually cracks a joke at serious moments and is a great foodie. Although the reader may find some unusual words being used by the characters usually spoken by the people in Delhi but it was really a good read and I strongly recommend this book. What's good about this book, is the interaction between the characters. Specially the lead characters Keshav and Saurabh aka Golu. Saurabh always had a funny angle even in a serious situation. That makes this book very interesting. I had bit more expectations as there was a terrorism side to the plot; but unfortunately main incidences are results of personal motives. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Hi, I'm Keshav, and my life is screwed. I hate my job and my girlfriend left me. Ah, the beautiful Zara. Zara is from Kashmir. She is a Muslim. And did I tell you my family is a bit, well, traditional? Anyway, leave that. Zara and I broke up four years ago. She moved on in life. I didn't. I drank every night to forget her. I called, messaged, and stalked her on social media. She just ignored me. However, that night, on the eve of her birthday, Zara messaged me. She called me over, like old times, to her hostel room 105. I shouldn't have gone, but I did... and my life changed forever. This is not a love story. It is an unlove story. From the author of Five Point Someone and 2 States, comes a fast-paced, funny and unputdownable thriller about obsessive love and finding purpose in life against the backdrop of contemporary India. Though Bhagat has tried to shift genres, his characters and certain plot elements remain quite similar to those of his other works. I am not a Bhagat-basher and I found parts of this quick moving novel entertaining, and liked it better than his previous couple. ( )
