Here, Sidney Stewart recounts the suffering of prisoners during his internment by the Japanese including the horrific Bataan Death March. Stewart recounts the entire three and a half years of his captivity and includes the stories of many fellow prisoners who did not survive their captivity. The book can be brutally graphic at times, but must be to convey the incredible suffering of prisoners. An emotional roller coaster, Stewart weaves both the best and worst of man into his work. The reader is left pondering how some men can cause such incredible suffering and others can endure it. An incredible read. ( )
