When Isadora's mother begins pressuring her to marry an elderly and uncouth duke, she escapes from the high-society world she's always known and finds herself to be an unlikely candidate for a housekeeper position in rural Pennsylvania. Mr. Ian MacKenzie is known for his savvy business sense and has built his reputation and fortune completely on his own merits. But when his adopted parents are in need of a new housekeeper and Isadora is thrown into his path, he's unexpectedly charmed by her unconventional manner. I wanted to enjoy this book but the old guy putting his hands on the main character and looking at her like he did, sick!
I stopped reading after like five pages because I am done with books that are filled with sick "men" who only think about a woman and her looks. Okay, okay, this guy's sick but he's likely the only guy in the book but why on earth can I not find a book that doesn't have a guy who can treat a girl like he's suppose to? Hmm?

If I finished the book I'm sure I'd love it but I don't want to since the beginning is trash.

I'd like just one book where adultery, lust, fornication, or other likewise sins come up. I mean come on, I'm seventeen, I like to read and want a book that has good content. It's not like I have high standards! Sure the Bible talks about all of these sins but in all of the books I've read lately they have these sins just to have them. There is no reason for every book I read to have mentions of a sexual sin just to have mention of them.

I will give a real review on my blog after I am finished stewing over the mindset that everything comes down to sex and I have fallen in love with the characters and wonderful story that Mrs. Turano has shared.

This book was a nice light read. There was some implausible behavior and clunky dialogue, but nothing egregious.

Izzy is used to being the perfect debutante. But now she's on the run, pursued by a toady Duke with a shady past. Can she hide as a housekeeper when she has no practical skills? Possibly, when Glory Manor's housekeeper quits due to being threatened as a chicken thief, a cow who enjoys being in the house, a group of orphans show up, and other hijinks break out. Mistaken identity, peril, and reluctant love round out the plot. ( )

Yay for a new series from Jen Turano! Featuring American heiresses encountering laugh-out-loud hilarity and falling in love, I am here for it.

The series begins with Flights of Fancy, which shares the story of heiress Isadora Delafield. To escape society and an unwanted marriage, she heads to rural Pennsylvania and accepts a position as a housekeeper. It is not the life she expected—at all, but as mystery, mayhem, and mischief bring her closer to her employer, it has the potential to be exactly what she needs.

I do not think I’ll ever not love one of Turano’s books. They are just too fun and heartwarming, always bringing a smile to my face. I easily recommend Flights of Fancy to readers of historical romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own. ( )

May I have your attention please?

I’ve just read my first book by Jen Turano.

And, now I must collect everything she’s ever published!!

Flights of Fancy, the first book in Jen Turano’s new American Heiresses series features an heiress in disguise, a quirky elderly uncle, rogue barnyard animals, four adorable ginger-haired children, a slimy villain and one dashing hero!

I instantly loved each character in this book! Isadora Delafield is adorably long-winded and has an explanation for everything. Ian MacKenzie is a gentle giant who’s worked his way to the top but is humble enough to remember where he came from. Every single supporting character from the children, to Uncle Amos and Aunt Birdie, to Beatrix and everyone in between were just so perfectly well-written. (And, I’m seriously hoping that one of the forthcoming books in this series will please be about Beatrix? Pretty please?!?!)

This book had action, tenderness, rich historical details, adventure and humor. This book had a ton of humor – honest to goodness laugh out loud humor!! The balance of the humorous scenes with a heartfelt or adventurous moment was so well done! The plot had several twists and turns to keep my Kindle’s electronic pages flipping! Each scene was so vividly described I felt like I was right there with them!

I can’t say much more, because…well…spoilers. But! One thing’s for sure. After reading Flights of Fancy, I will never look at someone named Nigel or Percival the same way ever again!

Five Well-Deserved Stars! I highly recommend this book…and I would read it again!! Flights of Fancy will be available January 1, 2019. You don’t want to miss this book!

I received an advanced copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley. A positive review was not required. All opinions expressed are completely my own ( )

Flights of Fancy by Jen Turano is the first book in her American Heiresses series. Miss Isadora Delafield flees her home in New York and the unwanted attentions of the Duke of Montrose. Arriving in rural Pennsylvania in answer to an advertisement for a housekeeper, Izzie is not prepared for such a demanding job. As an heiress she’s never had to work, and now she’s responsible for a household of six! This makes for some very humorous situations. I loved the determination and humor that Izzie displayed when each new trial came along. Finding out your purpose in life is hard sometimes, but Izzie came through with flying colors. It was great fun getting to know Isadora and Ian and watching their love develop. This story had it all; romance, danger and a mystery, animals and irresistible children. Add them all together and you have a great Jen Turano novel!

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. ( )
