This is the spinoff of the Joe Ledger series, but it still features Joe. The DMS is no more and now it is Rogue Team International, which is also the name of the new series. Something was released in the air and everyone on a tiny island near North Korea has turned everyone against each other and no one is left alive. Since now Rogue Team International works more with a tacit blessing of the UN there is more cooperation and international focus for the book. A video filmed of the islanders attacking one another with info that the US and South Korea was behind it is suppressed for a little bit but it does get out as a second attack happens on a South Korean island. Everyone at Rogue Team is trying to stop it and find out what is causing this rage, and who is behind the attacks. The person behind the attacks is a surprise to the group and they will stop at nothing to get him ( ) This one was a curious, yet interesting adjustment in direction for this series. Basically, it's the same stuff, but on a much larger stage. What makes it curious—to me, at least—is there were times when Ledger and company seemed to have to take a backseat to the action. This is not a bad thing, but it's not a usual thing for the world of Ledger. All in all, it opens up some more possibilities for the newly formed RTI, and, as always, I'm looking forward to more. I absolutely love this series. And...that ending. Damn. I'd be remiss if I didn't take a moment to recognize Ray Porter, as well. I luckily stumbled across the audiobook versions of this series (well, the non-RTI Ledger books) with the second volume, and Porter narrated it. He's narrated all of the Ledger books, and I've got to say, some of the lines in the book that may have fallen a bit flat just shine due to his spectacular reading. I've listened to other books narrated by Porter and, though he never disappoints, it's the Joe Ledger books that make him shine. His narration and Maberry's words were built for each other. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

A small island off the coast of Korea is torn apart by a bioweapon that drives everyone-men, women, and children-insane with murderous rage. The people behind the attack want Korea reunified or destroyed. No middle ground. No mercy. Soon Japan, China, and the United States are pushed to the brink of war, while terrorists threaten to release the rage bioweapon in a way of pure destructive slaughter. Joe Ledger leads his newly formed band of international troubleshooters in their first mission to stop the terror cell, fighting alongside agents from North and South Korea. With the lives of billions at stake, Ledger is willing to bring his own brand of terror to this frightening new war"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
