This is a cute enough book with a clever rhyming scene. It's funny without necessarily being overly silly. Out of a bunch of books my 9-year-old niece and I read together, she chose this as a favorite.
The illustrations show the main character is a girl, which is nice considering how many children's books have male protagonists. In the school scenes, there is only one child of color. So a middling effort on diversity is made here. A few page spreads, particularly the opening and closing ones with the bookshelves, have a lot of fun details to look for as a reader. All the illustrations are bright, colorful, and engaging. (
