Nineteen-year-old Stephan Varda flees his father's wrath over the death of his beloved brother in unstable 1880s Hungary. It doesn't take long for Miklos Varda to regret losing yet another son, but it's already too late to find Stephan. Strong-tempered Miklos learns one bitter lesson after another until he becomes homeless himself -- at the same time Stephan is learning about the mercy of Jesus Christ from a beautiful, devout young Hungarian-American. Intricately coordinated events lead both Stephan and Miklos to America and to a pivotal decision: whether or not to accept God's undying love. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

In this story you are in Budapest and the year is 1893. The story begins with the Varda family, Dad, Mom, and two boys, Joseph and Stephan. Life is good as they work on their tour boats up and down the Danube River. But tragedy will strike this family many times. And how a person responds in the midst of a deep hurt is a lesson for all to heed. This family will be torn apart, but watching how the Lord directs, and seeing how He works things together for good, was very uplifting. There is a romance in this story, but it is not the main plot of this story. Watching the "intricately coordinated events" that lead to the Dad and son finding each other kept me reading into the night. The title will have a lot of meaning by the end of this book. Enjoy! ( )
