Even the most negative-seeming things like rain and weeds have a positive side, this rhyming book explains. Each page describes a negative aspect while the next page portrays a more optimistic view. The childish, watercolor illustrations depict a year's worth of changing seasons as the pages are turned. The theme of multiple perspectives is an interesting one, but often the rhyming text seems forced and awkward. Also the topics get less believable as the book progresses. The positive and negative sides of sun, wind, and sand are much more convincing than those of drips and hills. The target age for this book is about kindergarten to second grade, but I would probably look for a more well written book on perspective and optimism if I were purchasing for a library collection.
