Each of the three authors write a short story about their main character in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The stories are tied together in this book because their three character are trapped together on a cemetery world. To pass the time and to have a closer connection in this bleak planet they decide to tell each other of a narrow escape from death they each had. Those stories they tell are the three short stories. It is a good Warhammer read but I do not know why it is listed under horror. Some of the regular Black Library books invoke more horror or suspense then these. After the narration before and in between stories I knew why the character were together before the second story was told. Worth a read but not a horror book. ( ) Not a terrible book. The stories are interesting and curious, but I felt little connection to the characters which is important in a horror story. In general, there's something about the style of writing in the Warhamner novels that make it difficult for me to get into. The authors try to write in an epic, grandiose style that feels thick and dense but isn't pleasurable to read. As neat as the stories are and how rich and deep the lore of the Warhammer world is, they end up feeling like a slog..... geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de uitgeversreeks(en)Warhammer Horror (anthology 2)
A chilling mosaic novel by masters of their craft. On a misty cemetery world, three strangers are drawn together through mysterious circumstances. Each of them has a tale to tell of a narrow escape from death. Amid the toll of funerary bells and the creep and click of mortuary-servitors, the truth is confessed. But whose story can be trusted? Whose recollection is warped, even unto themselves? For these are strange stories of the uncanny, the irrational and the spine-chillingly frightening, where horrors abound and the dark depths of the human psyche is unearthed. A chilling portmanteau. I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck prickling. The perfect combination of horror and Warhammer 40,000.'
