OMG I wasn't expecting this book to be so amazing when my friend told me to read it describing it as a 'modern twist on Sleeping Beauty'. We picked it up together and I wanted to do a twin read but... she's a really slowwwww reader...

But I'm so happy I read it! 5 stars all the way!!! I would recommend it to anyone wanting a good read!

The book focuses on Laura, a girl from the past who is frozen because of her rare 'cancer' and switches between the narrative of Shem who turns out to be her brother and herself. When Laura wakes up after 40 years, she needs to discover the secrets of her past whilst living in her future.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and, Kathryn, I think that you're a brilliant author! You're such an amazing inspiration for a first-time teen author like myself :) ( )

I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book but I found it rather disappointing Most of the plot was slow and predictable. I didn't find Shem's story believable but I did enjoy following Laura as she discovered modern technology. My favourite aspect of "Beauty Sleep" was Shem's relationship with his dog, Scrag. It was touching how they bonded together. The ending felt rushed and there were many questions left unanswered. An okay read but forgettable. ( )
