Strike One: My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk. Not cool, Mom. I've spent most of my life answering to Teddy because I couldn't make Theo work. Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I've managed to redeem myself. There's only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot. Doesn't matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well. And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she's perfect. That's right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching-band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams. Everything is perfect. That is, until Troy takes a good look at her. I'm not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I'm not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game. I may not know much about play strategy, but I've been the good guy my whole life. I've been listening, and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he's underestimating the guy on the right.… (meer)

Laney and Theo meet in college and become friends, first based on their past romances. Theo is determined to make Laney his, but he's the overlooked guy with the star athlete roommates who are more Laney's type. It's a cute romance book, with a dreaded third-act breakup that brought the book down a star for me. ( )

There is a reason that this author is one of my favorites. I liked the underlying message of this relationship and the importance of trust, communication, and not judging a book by it's cover.

There were a few areas I wanted fleshed out but for the most part, this was another great addition to the books written by this author. ( )

I enjoyed this. It was a quick and generally fun time. Let's talk about why it gets a 3 and not a 4 or 5.

Right away one of the main characters has a pretty iffy sexual encounter that ends in jokes being made and the author almost completely ignoring it for the rest of the book except a few small mentions. It's not addressed well and serves little purpose.

In my opinion, this book could have been considerably shorter. There were a couple instances where I felt things were drawn out and it turned the book into a little more of a slog.

I really didn't like most of the ending. Not the very very end but the end conflict was dumb. The way it was handled wasn't great for me either.

Overall though I liked the banter between the two. The side characters except a select few were fun and felt like they added to the story. It was good just not great. ( )

First of all the blurb is misleading.
I liked that the Hero wasn't a manwhore type but the start for me spoilt it.
The heroine meets him after he has slept with a random woman, not really remembering what happened as he's drunk, lost his virginity.
It's just boring.
There is sibling banter.
Around 80% they split up, he cuts her out not allowing her to explain and then they get back together after a few weeks of the heroine agonising and devastated.
Needed more redemption to me.
HEA.
Epilogue. ( )

I dnf'd the audiobook of this back in February because I just could not get into the narrator. But I still really wanted to pick this up - and I'm glad I now did!

This was really fun, but from time to time I just couldn't follow the way the characters jumped to conclusions or suddenly understood things, which was all exacerbated in the drama at the end, which annoyed me quite a bit. Still very fun overall though. ( )
