This is a realistic fiction, but it could also be an informational book. It follows the story of a girl who raises a batch of frogs from eggs with guidance from her mother. Her mother tells her all about the stages that the frogs go through, and the girl learns all about how frogs grow. She was surprised and happy to find that the tadpoles had begun to grow legs. When they grew into adult frogs, the mother and her daughter let the frogs go, and came back to visit frequently. I might use this book if my classroom ever grew frogs, like the girl in this story. The reading level is about at the 2nd grade level. Growing Frogs is a nonfictional book teaching children how to raise their own frogs in aquariums at home. The book explains the importance of proper maintenance and releasing the grown frogs back into the wild. French's lesson also teaches about the biological life cycle of amphibians. This book is an excellent introduction to biology, and should be experimented with all parents and their children. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
