And here I thought I'd love this :(
Brilliant and creative art style.
The beginning reminded me of The Magnus Archives, which is like, the highest praise that I can offer.
The story itself fell flat for me. The ideas were cool, but the only common theme was SPIRALS even though it followed the same characters the whole time.
I think it would have been better if it was more of an anthology of spirals. Following one character is fine, but then the story needs to be more cohesive. Things just kept happening around the character and the characters did nothing at all, except maybe exist and not decide to leave town. No personality, nothing.
There was no point to anything!! And it was creepy, sure, but not super suspenseful. I also didn't like the turn it took at the last 200 pages or so. Dystopian allegory is fine, but I did not expect it here, especially when there's so many other more important pieces lacking.
The ending wasn't satisfying, and at times I was bored.
The artwork was amazing. ( )
