On the Navajo reservation, a man is found dead at the bottom of a canyon. The tribal police have ruled it an accident. People close to the man don't believe it, so medium Sam Firecloud and his partner, Lacey Fitzpatrick, are called in to investigate. Former LAPD detective Lacey Fitzpatrick and her new husband and business partner Sam Firecloud are off to the family in Arizona at the request of Sam's brother. A friend of his wound up dead at the bottom of the canyon and neither Sam's brother nor the widow can reconcile the finding of accident with what they know about the victim.
Sam has spent his life as a medium with the dead whether Navaho or not and has changed from construction work to being a Private Investigator with Lacey since their encounters with murder victims while Lacey was still with the LAPD.
The man who died was a friend to all, especially his fellows in the local Alcoholics Anonymous group. Sam is able to find the truth and share it with the family, Tribal Police, and the AA group. Solid investigating with help from the victim once the true location of the incident was located.
Another excellent story in this fascinating series.
I prefer the audio, and Laura Wilson proves her abilities as a voice actor once again. ( )

When you get to book number eleven in a series, you don't just have respect for an author who can keep your attention eleven times, you have certainty and reassurance that you're in a safe and welcoming place. I so needed this after a book which I really did not like. Looking at my review list, Bowersock's eleventh Sam and Lacey case was the inevitable next book because I knew there was a hundred-percent guarantee of enjoyment.

And in this case, Sam and Lacey investigate the death of Sam's brother's (Gabe) friend. Written off as a tragic accident, Gabe doesn't believe his fall to his death to the bottom of canyan is an accident. After the ritual 'walk', Sam can confidently agree with his brother. He and Lacey are tasked with finding who killed him. But canyons can be dangerous…life-threateningly so.

I'm not going to apologise for saying the same as I do with all of the 'Walk' books, or indeed all of Bowersock's books: well-written, well-characterised, enjoyable and addictive.

And number 12 is waiting patiently for me in my TBR queue!

Sam Firecloud is asked to come home to the reservation to investigate the death of a man found at the bottom of a canyon. Tribal police say it was an accident, others are saying it was not. Since Sam is a medium who can see and get impressions from ghosts, he and his partner Lacey Fiztpatrick head to the Navajo reservation to see what’s up.

Another quick and intriguing read. I love Sam and Lacey’s cases. They are not boring and the end of this one had my heart beating fast. Whew! The writing clips along at a good pace and the characters are great. I hope we see more of Ranger Stoneburner. You wouldn’t think so after he’s introduced, but I ended up liking him. Bring on the next case! ( )
