I was all set to reread this and then just put it onto various swapping sites along with the rest of my young adult literature, but I couldn't. The story just captured me all over again even though I remembered much of it. What is not to love- it's got pirates, interesting characters, and historical fiction? Rosie realizes that with her aunt dead, there's nothing for her in England, so she heads back with Raider to move to New Orleans. Raider gets it into his head that he's responsible for everything bad that's happened to her, and bullies Rosie into marrying him for propriety. Rosie is very angry- she wants to marry for love, and, though she loves him, their marriage is to be a sham. She also discovers a whole lot she didn't know about him and is angered he never bothered to tell her or include her before. This trilogy is about her growth and she demands that he let her grow. He finally does, and lets her come along to rescue his brother. She has no interest in helping with the battle of New Orleans, but he does, so she must face possibly losing him when she's finally found him. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
When Raider takes Rosie to England she finds no living kin-and long buried family secrets. When Raider offers to take Rosie to New Orleans, she sees no other option. But it is a journey that brings her closer than ever to the daring buccaneer who has captured her heart yet farther from the romantic dream that torments her. As the war rages at sea, Rosie once again watches Raider sail into battle, driven by the obsession that consumes him, and taking with him the love that has become the very soul of Rosie's life.
