This book is such an interesting way to introduce other languages and incorporate multiculturalism! Park writes this entire picture book in the form of onomatopoeias. I enjoyed the set up of the foldout pages so we as readers had the chance to guess the meaning of the sounds in different languages (by looks of the faces in each illustration) before flipping to the English version. ( ) This book focuses on the ways to express different emotions in other languages. Emotions such as joy, sadness, disgust and more. This book is a creative way to show children that we all have the same emotions but just say them in a different way. I think the author and illustrator did a great job on this book. The words are easy to follow while the bright colors of the book draw the child in. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"At a busy street market, kids eating ice cream exclaim, "Yum!" in English, "Geshmak!" in Yiddish, and "Nam-nam!" in Danish. But disaster strikes when a little dog overturns a spice cart, showering pepper on everyone's ice cream. Will the kids end up crying, "Hai hai," or cheering, "¡Yupi!"? Energetic art and a lift-the-flap feature make exploring languages fun." Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
